Miraculous Math DLO

Kia ora, today I will be telling you how to add fractions. For the past week or so in our class we have been learning about fractions how to multiply them, subtract them and add them. Today I will be showing you how to add them. I have made a maths DLO showing exactly how to add them. I have enjoyed learning about fractions because there is so much you can find out about them.

Here is my DLO:

Do you like learning about fractions?

Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Kia ora, Today I will be telling you all about my learning about Te Tiriti o Waitangi. On the first video we watched and had to answer questions about was about He Whakaputunga which is basically the Maori version of the declaration of independence.

Here is the first questions:

After that we had to watch another video and answer a second set of questions about before the treaty.

Here is the second set of questions:

Once we had done that we had to watch another video and answer some more questions this time about writing the treaty.

Here is the last set of questions:

Thank you for reading my blog, What do you already know about the treaty? And did you learn anything you didn’t already know?

PBL Earth Systems

Kia ora, today I am going to be telling you about my PBL. The last few weeks we have been learning about earth systems like the air, dirt, rocks and more. For my PBL I made a 3D model of an island. But all of the choices were a 3D model, maps, paper mache or minecraft. I made my 3D model with cardboard, rocks and some sticks. If my island was in real life the air on my island would have humid air. For the dirt on my island it is sandy because my island has a beach on it so some of the sand gets in the dirt.We were also learning about life forms for my life forms that I have put on my island, I have put some trees with sticks from outside and some green cellophane, and I have printed out some fish and put it in the river.

Here is the finished product:

Reading Between the Lines

Kia ora, today I will be telling you about my reading create. This week we were learning about reading between the line but you can also call it inferencing. For the last couple of days we had to read a text and answer some questions then we had to make a create either a comic or on some knowledge you learnt from it.I chose to make a create on my knowledge. My goal was to independently predict, interpret and analyse text, ‘reading between the lines’ to gain a deeper meaning.

Here is my create task:

Have you read between the lines before?

Climate Change Reading Task

Kia ora, today I am going to be telling you about my reading task. This week for reading we were reading a text about global warming and then we had to create a DLO on climate change. I chose to do a poster. In my poster I had to had what it is, how we can help and why is it true. It was really cool learning about climate change.

Here it is:

How can you help with climate change?

Future Me Writing

Kia ora, today I will be telling you about my writing. This week in writing we had a bunch of different options and I chose to write a letter to my future self. In this letter we had to include facts about ourselves now,  our interests and what we want for the future.

Here it is:

What do you want to be when your older?

Magnificent Menu

Kia ora welcome to my blog. Today I will be telling you about my create from last week. Last week we were told to make a menu for low sodium because our learning goal is: think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking. It was really hard for me to find low sodium foods because I didn’t really know how much milligrams of sodium is a lot and what is not. So I came up with 2 for each one, Drinks, Starters, Main, dessert.

This is what I ended up making:

What would you order of the menu?s

How can we be Champions of Peace

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions on Peace’.

We looked at the lyrics of amazing grace and then we highlighted the lyrics of them.

Link

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about St Teresa of Calcutta. I thought this person was a champion of peace because of the work she did with the homeless, sick and poor.

Link

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here.  Link

I enjoyed learning about peace because it was cool to see how other people were and are champions of peace.

I learnt about people who are champions of peace and how I can show peace.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by showing peace and being kind to all the people around me.

How can you be a champion of peace?

Camp Reflection

Kia ora welcome back to my blog, today I will be telling you about the camp I went on recently with my hub. On Monday the 10th of September all of the year 7’s left to go on an hour and a half journey to Wainui camp. we stayed there for two nights and three days. When we first got to camp we sat down and ate our packed lunch then we found out our cabins! I got to be with all of my friends! In my activity group we had: Ari, Ainsley, Nia, Georgia, Freya, Sophie, Joe Joe, Cody, Sean and me. My camp leader was Miss Henderson and Miss Abdelaal.

My favourite activity was definitely orienteering because I loved exploring the forest with friends.

What do you like doing at camp?

Powered Torch

In Science we have been learning about electricity. We did a lot of experiments but this one was definitely my favourite one we did. We learnt about renewable energy and non renewable energy, renewable energy is things like solar power hydro power and more but non renewable energy is like gases, coal and other things.

One of the experiments we did was: Powered Torch

Materials needed : two batteries, a wire, tape and a light bulb.

My Hypothesis: Before conducting my experiment I thought that it would work

What I discovered: After finishing my experiment I found out that my hypothesis was correct because the light lighted up.

Out of all the experiments we did I really enjoyed doing powered torch because we got to tape the batteries together and I like taping things.

If I was to do this experiment again or something similar I now know that we need to tape the right sides of the battries together other wise the experiment will not work.

Have you ever done a experiment similar to this?
